The Family
Chris and Suzanne Blackburn, along with their sons Alexander and Zachary started and run Cardinal Cattle Co., although if you ask the boys, the manual labor portion falls a little skewed. And if you ask Chris, it definitely falls skewed! The Blackburn family has enjoyed tending to their ranch in Luling, TX for the last 10 years, and is incredibly excited to start and grow this next, rewarding element.
Inspiration
While the Blackburn family have been Lifelong Texas Longhorns themselves, perhaps the love for the breed itself has come from the many visits up to their Uncle Bernard Lankford's Ranch in Weatherford, TX. He has been a great guide and mentor for us as we learn more about the breed, and we are proud that our foundation cows are from his herd and the great genetics he has bred with over the last 40 years.

The Blackburn's goal through Cardinal Cattle Co. is to provide the Longhorn breeding industry and legacy with premier, high quality Texas Longhorns. We focus on horn, color, body, disposition, and most importantly, the preservation of the integrity and the majesty of the breed. We look forward to meeting this ever-growing community and providing many of you with wonderful Longhorn cattle.
